The Road Ahead
isn’t any talk about evidences for Christianity reserved for areas of faith alone? Is there even such a thing as discussing actual evidence for it? Yes, there is. Christianity is not threatened by scientific or philosophical challenges, and is considered a “reasonable faith”, in that our faith is backed up by abundant evidence.
How will this be discussed? This may take some time to get through it all, but these are summaries of the main points we will be looking at.
The existence of God. Can we be certain (or at least more certain) from philosophical, logical, moral or design arguments of the existence of God?
The Bible. From historical, archaeological, prophetic or revelation evidences, can we be (more) certain that the Bible is what it claims (over 2,000 times) to be – the actual Word of God?
Jesus Christ. Is He the God-Man, or a myth? What evidences are there to back this up?
The universe we live in. Let’s look at what science is and what it isn’t. Let’s look at biological, geological and cosmological evolution. Seems pretty well designed and finely tuned doesn’t it?
Then, let’s examine alternative belief systems – from atheism (no god), pantheism (lot’s of gods), cults, and postmodern universalism (any god will get you there).
Where does this road lead?
We are using “apologetics”, roughly defined as “the intellectual defense of the truth of the Christian religion”, or a “rational response against the objections people bring up about Christianity”, to discuss these issues.
My hope is that this can help believers deepen their faith, as it has mine, and hopefully to remove intellectual roadblocks to anyone willing to further examine the claims of Scripture.
